Frequently Asked Questions
What wood is best for furniture?
The best wood for furniture depends on the intended use. Hardwoods like oak, cherry, and walnut are ideal for sturdy, long-lasting pieces, while softer like redwood and cedar are great for outdoor pieces. Options exist for nearly any situation, these will be explored during consultation. Each type of wood offers its own unique grain, texture, and durability, so we can help you choose the perfect wood for your project.
How do I protect wood from moisture?
To protect wood from moisture, it’s essential to apply a high-quality finish such as conversion varnish, catalyzed lacquer, or UV cured finish, which create a barrier against water. Regularly waxing or reapplying the finish helps maintain its protective layer, and placing furniture in areas with controlled humidity will further prevent moisture damage.
What types of wood do you use?
We work with a wide variety of woods, including hardwoods like oak, maple, and cherry, as well as unique and exotic options. We’ll help you choose the best wood based on your project’s needs, durability, and aesthetic preferences.
How long does it take to complete a project?
The timeline depends on the complexity of your project. After our initial consultation and approval of the design, we provide a detailed timeline. Smaller projects can be completed within a few weeks, larger projects can take several months.
How do you ensure the quality of your work?

about brandon
Brandon Eller Craftsman & Founder of Eller built Woodworks
Brandon Eller is a master craftsman whose work reflects a deep commitment to beauty, integrity, and purpose. As the founder of Ellerbuilt Woodworks, he creates heirloom furniture built to outlast trends — pieces that carry soul, meaning, and the mark of a life well-lived.
Brandon doesn’t just measure twice and cut once — he listens, visits the space, and designs with the intention that each piece belongs exactly where it ends up. His standards are uncompromising, his process deliberate. If there’s a more difficult path that leads to something better, he takes it. “If something is easy to do, it’s not worth doing.”
That same philosophy extends beyond the woodshop. Brandon lives for challenge and exploration — climbing remote routes on lead, whitewater catboating, kite buggying, powder surfing, and camping through all seasons. He’s even building an RV from the ground up on a 1954 Chevy truck. Whether crafting furniture or carving lines into fresh powder, Brandon believes the same truth: no risk, no reward.
